SANTA MARIA — Three re-elected Santa Maria Joint Union High School District Board of Education members were sworn in during the Dec. 11 meeting.
The meeting was held at the Support Services Center on Skyway Drive. Superintendent Dr. Mark Richardson administered the Oath of Office to Dominick Palera, Diana Perez and Carol Karamitsos. Palera is now the President.
“We are happy to have our incumbent board members returning to our governance team,’’ Dr. Richardson said. “I look forward to working with them to ensure that that board’s vision is implemented in our district and that our students receive the best possible education.’’
Palera and Perez were elected 11/4/2014 and their terms expire in 2022. Karamitsos was elected 11/7/2006 and her term also expires in 2022.
Trustees Dr. Jack Garvin and Amy Lopez will have their terms expire in 2020. Dr. Garvin was elected 11/02/2004 and Lopez took office 11/8/2016.
