Teresa Segovia announced as new executive director of El Centrito Family Learning Centers

OXNARD — The Board of Directors for El Centrito Family Learning Centers is pleased to announce the appointment of Teresa Segovia as its Executive Director. Teresa officially joined the organization’s leadership on March 1, 2017.

“El Centrito provides extraordinary, high quality services to more than 1,500 children, youth, and families a year, so we are pleased to welcome such a talented leader to the organization,” said Nancy Switzler, President of El Centrito’s Board of Directors. “As an advocate for early education and expanding access to high-quality early learning programs, I am confident that Teresa’s experience and passion will be a great contribution towards realizing El Centrito’s mission and goals.”

Teresa brings a wealth of experiences gained through her work with early education and child and youth development non-profit organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Carpinteria, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert, and most recently the Carpinteria Children’s Project. Additionally, Teresa has a proven commitment to building collaborative community relationships and partnerships, and she has demonstrated the skills and capabilities necessary to seeing El Centrito grow, thrive, and continue the incredible work of the organization throughout the community.

It is with great enthusiasm and optimism that I take on this role with this remarkable organization.”

Teresa is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she studied sociology and educational psychology. She earned her Master’s degree in psychology at Antioch University.
