WESTLAKE VILLAGE — The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is hosting its 10th Annual Golf Classic. The tournament is on Monday, May 13 at the Moorpark Country Club. The title sponsor for the tournament is Amoroso Companies. The tournament is sold out, but the Y needs donated items for the tournament’s raffle.
“The golf tournament is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year,” says Ronnie Stone, President and CEO of the Y. “The raffle typically generates a large portion of the amount raised.”
Proceeds from the tournament support the YMCA’s “Find My Genius” program, a no-cost afterschool and five-week summer program for low- and moderate-income students who are not reading at grade level. The program provides students with academic instruction, healthy meals, physicalexercise and enrichment opportunities. In addition, this year a portion of the funds raised will go towards the construction of an inclusive playground in our community (www.morrisonparkplayground.com).
Donated raffle items often include wine, tickets, golf items, baskets, gift cards, pullovers, sunglasses and more.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for tee signs and program ads.
The Southeast Ventura County’s two branches, Yarrow Family YMCA and Simi Valley Family YMCA, serve Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Oak Park, Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley. The Y focuses on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Its mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the Y.
