WESTLAKE VILLAGE — The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is hosting its 3rd Annual Reach for the Stars Gala on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village. A limited number of tickets remain.
The YMCA will honor David H. Murdock, CEO of Dole Food Company, with the 2019 Joel and Frances McCrea Memorial Award for his long-standing support for the Yarrow Family YMCA that opened earlier this year in Westlake Village.
“Without the commitment and inspiration from Mr. Murdock, the Yarrow Family YMCA would have not been built,” says Ronnie Stone, Southeast Ventura County YMCA CEO/President. “Mr. Murdock had a vision of a state-of-the-art health and fitness center our entire community could afford and enjoy. His vision will give current and future generations the opportunity to benefit from his generosity.”
In addition, the YMCA will present three Community Leadership Awards to volunteers who have given of themselves for the betterment of others and the community.
The evening features cocktails, live and silent auctions and a four-course dinner. It culminates with an unforgettable after party filled with fun and surprises for all guests.
Lead sponsors for the event include Holthouse Garlin & Van Tright LLP, RCI Builders and Amoroso Companies.
Gala proceeds will support the Y’s Find My Genius program, a summer achievement gap program serving local elementary school children and Safety Around Water, a water safety training program. Both programs are offered at no cost to participants. Last year, the event raised over $465,000 to fund these and other YMCA programs.
The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building positive relationships, impacting lives and strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living programs and social responsibility. It serves the Conejo Valley, Simi Valley, Westlake Village, Oak Park, Agoura Hills and Moorpark through its three branches.
The cost of the gala is $350 per person, $650 per couple. For information, tables and tickets, call 805-497-3081 or go to http://www.sevymca.org/gala
