Group Meetings and Performances Allowed by State April 15
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced that private events, such as meetings and conferences, may resume on April 15, 2021. Outdoor events will be allowed in all tiers, with capacity limited in each tier. Indoor events will only be allowed for counties in red, orange or yellow tiers, with more restrictive capacity limits and a requirement that indoor attendees must either provide proof of vaccination, or a recent negative COVID-19 test. The Santa Barbara County Department of Public Health which will implement the state’s guidelines in an upcoming public health order.

CDPH also announced that indoor performances will be permitted on April 15, 20201. These indoor events are governed by separate guidelines than meetings and conferences with audiences allowed in the red, orange and yellow tiers only. Capacity is restricted based on venue size and the current county tier assignment.

While this is exciting news, please keep in mind that it is projected that we will have one more bell curve of infections, though they are expected to largely effect younger people because more older individuals are vaccinated. Before making travel plans or prematurely partying, you should note the growth of the variants, especially B.1.1.7, which appears to be more deadly and is landing younger people in the hospital with increased frequency.
