VENTURA COUNTY — Clinicas del Camino Real Inc. will receive more than $850,000 in funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Community Health Center Program, Rep. Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village), reported in a media release.
Through its 13 health centers across Ventura County, Clinicas provides medical, dental, optical, preventive, prenatal, and mental health care to nearly 60,000 people.
“Expanding access to quality, affordable health care for all Ventura County residents is one of my highest priorities,” Brownley said. “Clinicas is a valuable partner in Ventura County, and this grant will help them expand and improve on the important work that they do.”
“This funding will allow Clinicas to expand primary care services in Ventura County, especially much-needed prenatal care and diabetes and cancer treatments, Clinicas CEO Roberto Juarez stated in the release. “We are very excited that we can move ahead in our mission to serve the members of our community who lack access to these essential heath care services.”
The Community Health Center Program is investing $150 million in 236 centers like Clinicas that provide high quality, comprehensive health care services in underserved communities across the United States. Of the $30.6 million dollars HHS awarded to community health centers in California, Clinicas will receive approximately $858,333.
