Celina Zacarias Elected as 1st Latina Woman to Serve as President of the Oxnard Harbor District, 2024-2025

 On January 16, 2024, the Oxnard Harbor District elected Celina Zacarias as the President of the Board of Harbor Commissioners. Zacarias will be the first Latina woman to hold this top post and brings a unique perspective of community engagement, workforce development and education with her extensive experience serving as Executive Director of Community & Government Relations at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI).

Port of Hueneme, Labor and Community Leaders Join Forces in “Powerwall” Response to Infrastructure Emergency

The Port of Hueneme, the pioneering West Coast Port in adopting Shoreside Power for cargo vessels, faced substantial setbacks following severe damage to its Shoreside Power System during an unprecedented rain event on December 21 and 22, 2023.

Despite this setback, the Port remains steadfast in its commitment to environmental sustainability, having been a pioneer in mitigating diesel emissions and will keep the course for zero emission targets for at berth vessels and all yard equipment by 2030.

Two California State Dignitaries Create A Big Splash During First Visit to The Port of Hueneme

The Port of Hueneme welcomed two distinguished visitors, Dee Dee Myers, the Director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), and Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson, Chair of the Select Committee on Ports and Goods Movement. The two California officials toured The Port of Hueneme’s onsite facilities and learned about its unique Hueneme Way of supporting logistics and trade through its collaboration and utilization of offsite facilities to create more job opportunities for local residents and maximize the throughput and efficiency of California bound cargo. As the only deep-water Port between Los Angeles and San Francisco, The Port of Hueneme serves as a vital link in the supply chain, handling over $15.8 billion worth of cargo annually.

MLK Day

The Port was proud to support and attend the 38th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day event held in Oxnard on Jan. 15th by joining in the march and honoring the works of the late civil rights leader and social justice advocate.

Port of Hueneme at the AAPA Power Summit

On January 22nd, Port of Hueneme Community Outreach Manager, Miguel Rodriguez and Port Hueneme Community Member, Carolina Gallardo Magana spoke on a Panel about Environmental Justice at the American Association of Port Authorities sharing Hueneme’s values and practices with the Port authority industry.

Free Health/Wellness Fair

Saturday, February 24th

A Community Benefit Fund Event, Hosted Jointly by the City of Port Hueneme and the Port of Hueneme. The FREE Fair features educational health & wellness booths, a children’s activity area, healthy food vendors, live entertainment, and much more!

Event date Moved from February 4th to February 24th due to weather conditions.

FIRST Robotics Competition

The Port of Hueneme is Hosting the annual FIRST Robotics Regional Competition. This 10 Day event is starting on February 29th and is free to the public.
