Oct. 24 — Oxnard Performing Arts Center announces upcoming Zombie Academy event

ZOMBIE ACADEMY
OPAC is bringing you all the classes and tools you need to become part of the Living Dead this October.
No need to worry about social distancing. You’re bound to stir up horror, revulsion and at least 6-feet of separation after we’re done with you. Mwahahaha!

THE ESPERANZA PROJECT
“SIN VERGÜENZA” CHARLAS

“Sin Verguenza” (‘without shame’) Charlas are monthly meetings that bring together teen Latinas to share, inspire and encourage each other through craft and conversation. It’s a judgement-free space to connect, discover and find your own artistic outlet via virtual Zoom sessions. Sessions will be a mix of guest artists, new arts activities and unstructured time to interact and learn from each other.

Welcome to the first “Sin Verguenza” Charla!

Join your hosts, Arcelia Martinez (OPAC’s Artist-in-Residence) and artist Marie Villa for a chill session of crafting… and chatting. This first session is all about Zines!

Zines are a great way to publish your own art, poems, writing, musings, and anything else you want to express—without needing anyone else’s permission to do so.

Grab some paper, scissors, + markers and join other chicas to learn a new art form and get handy resources for navigating life during a pandemic.

About the Arts Instructor
Marie Villa, an Oxnard native currently residing in Ventura, is a program administrator by day and an artist by night. With a long career working in the field of trauma, Marie often combines clinical knowledge of mental health and creative outlets like painting and zine making.
