OXNARD— The Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) will present an “Indigenous Knowledge Conference: An Encounter for Providers and Professionals” from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 26 at Oxnard College, 4000 So. Rose Ave., Oxnard.
The conference will provide information about the Oaxacan indigenous community in Ventura County, Oaxacan indigenous traditions and beliefs, how to provide culturally-aware services to the indigenous community, migration patterns and history, interpretation and language access and indigenous perspectives on health and education.
Co-sponsored by Oxnard College and el Centro Binacional para el Desarrollo Indígena Oaxaqueño (Binational Center for the Development of the Indigenous Communities). The registration fee is $75 per person. This includes continental breakfast, traditional Oaxacan lunch and conference materials.
