SANTA BARBARA — Santa Barbara Museum of Art to present: “Studio Sunday,” 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 1130 State St., Santa Barbara.
Visitors of all ages are welcome to participate in this hands-on workshop with SBMA Teaching Artists in the Museum’s Family Resource Center. Each month explore a different medium, including clay, metal, ink, wood, photography, and paper, and gain inspiration from works of art in the Museum’s permanent collection or special exhibitions.
In May, collage layers of square watercolor paper to create a “canvas,” then paint it with tea, mug rings, or abstract marks to make your own version of Hannah Karsen’s Untitled 2, inspired by her photograph of a well-loved special collection art book Homage the Square cover, featured in A Brilliant Spectrum: Recent Gifts of Color Photography.
