Maria-Felix Ryan leaving Promotoras y Promotores Foundation for position at USC

OXNARD — Maria-Felix Ryan, executive director of the Promotoras y Promotores Foundation in Oxnard, is leaving to take a position at USC with the Keck School and Annenberg for Communication & Journalism.

The following is her letter to the community:

Hello All,

The last four years I have really enjoyed the position of executive director of Promotoras y Promotores Foundation but am now exploring new horizons.  I accepted the position of Supervisor working on a great project at USC with the Keck School and Annenberg for Communication & Journalism in Los Angeles. I want to thank you all for collaborating on different events, conferences, health fairs, etc., to increase health education and provide health services at some of these events for the Latino population in the counties of Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.  I applaud you for all the great work we have done.

I also introduced several out of county agencies to some of you that produced other great conferences for professionals, community health workers and Promotor@s. Even though I will be working in Los Angeles, I will continue to support the efforts of your great health education and outreach to all our populations and will circulate information as I have these past years. Many of you have attended events outside of your county because of the information that has come my way.

I am still involved in a few projects that I will see through this year and hope to continue to receive your collaboration in providing the great support you have these past years. As a Promotora de Salud as time permits, you may see me in your community doing the work that I like best, helping to advocate, support and educate Latinos so they can be healthier and receive services they need.

In the event that you need assistance with Promotoras y Promotores Foundation please contact Mario Cepeda, Board President at chaplaintwo@yahoo.com.

You can continue to contact me if you have an questions on my cell phone or email. Thank you all!
