Celebrating our Camino Scholars at College Signing Days
Dear Friend,June marks the end of our fiscal year, and I can’t thank you enough for the tremendous year of investment you made in our communities, our services, and those we serve.

The past few weeks saw us celebrating our Camino Scholars at College Signing Days. Graduating from high school and bound for college, many of these students are the first in their families to have that opportunity. Please know that your support funds generational hopes and dreams for so many. Likewise, your investments into our Supportive Housing Program this year translated into thousands of hours of help for our residents leading to so many positive financial, physical and mental health outcomes.

Despite another twelve months of Covid impacts and related challenges, with your help we surmounted and outpaced the obstacles and victoriously reached our real estate development goals. FY22 saw many new projects, five of which are now in construction, and represent over $60 million of private equity investment, permanent investment in our communities. Recently, it has been especially uplifting to return to in person ground breaking events. People’s Place in Santa Paula, and in San Luis Obispo, at Tiburon Place, gave us the opportunity to personally thank everyone who made these great occasions possible.

Thank you to all of our supporters, residents, advocates, funders, stakeholders, partners – each one of you are cherished members of the People’s family. You made it a wonderful year!

Celebrating 20 Years of Success!
For over two decades, you have been helping our Camino Scholars succeed. Take a look at twenty reasons to support this essential program and make a gift to benefit future students.
Because so many can’t do it alone, let’s Build Together! It’s hard to do it alone…

In San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties, fair market rent for a one-bedroom apartment is $1,615. At a minimum wage of $14 per hour, 89 hours of work per week is needed to afford this.

A full time worker, earning minimum wage can only afford $728 in rent. Someone trying to live on Social Security can only afford $286.

Many are just one financial challenge, such as a car repair or a medical bill, away from losing the roof over their head. There is nowhere in these counties where a full-time worker earning minimum wage can afford to rent a one-bedroom apartment.

Make your generous gift today and let’s Build Together!
