CAMARILLO — Studio Channel Islands Arts Center (SCIART), a non-profit dedicated to bringing together art, artists and community, will be hosting its 2020 Collector’s Choice event as a live stream, from 6 to 9 p.m., June 6. The popular annual event is styled around traditional game shows, with audience interaction and the guarantee that each ticket holder will have an opportunity to choose an original artwork from the collection. All proceeds go to support SCIART in delivering its art education programs in the schools and the community, as well as programs focused on helping with dementia and stroke patients.
“With the current COVID-19 restrictions, we had to come up with a creative solution to continue the Collector’s Choice tradition,” said SCIART Executive Director Peter Tyas. “The event will stream live from our gallery with a minimal crew, all adhering to social distancing guidelines. There will be live music, the irrepressible Sean Patrick as host and plenty of opportunity for the audience to participate in real time.”
Tickets for the June 6 live stream event are available online at https://bit.ly/SCIART_CollectorsChoice. Each ticket admits two people and allows for one artwork to be collected. Attendees can preview the artwork online in advance at https://bit.ly/SCIART_CCpreview. Sponsorship opportunities for the event are also available by contacting Peter Tyas, SCIART executive director, at ptyas@studiochannelislands.org or by calling 805-383-1368.
The Collector’s Choice exhibition presents a wide range of 2D/3D artistic styles and mediums including photography, painting, sculpture, fiber and assemblage works by nationally exhibited and award-winning artists, as well as several exciting emerging artists. Juried this year by renowned artist Katherine Chang Liu, awards were made to artists Richard Barnett (first place), Charles Turnell (second place) and Bob Privitt (third place).
