SANTA BARBARALa LoCA Milonga is back with more tango at 1724 E. Haley St., Santa Barbara.

La LoCA Milonga started back in 2021. And now, in 2023…a whole tango orquesta sprouted in Los Angeles, partly based on the teaching of the very same artist we brought to Santa Barbara, that first time.

Website of the event:
Hugo Satorre will play the bandoneon. He is a well loved musician from Buenos Aires, with a very big trajectory. He has written a  book/manual of the bandoneon that he makes available to all as a free PDF: Mi Primer Ano con el Bandoneon.
He will be joined by Top Ten Billboard World Music Winner Winnie Cheung. She plays the piano and the bandoneon and is a powerhouse in the current world of tango. She lives in the Midwest, but travels all over. She has an enormous tango agenda, including performing, teaching, taking tango to schools, retirement homes, prisons…and more.
Hugo and Winnie are joined by LA Tipica: a whole new tango orquesta!
Ten (10!) musicians. Plus Hugo and Winnie. A nice dozen.
When Hugo came in 2021, the first time, it was Santa Barbara that hosted him and made the first such tango concert. He fell in love with the city and the community.
He came again, of course, and organized a bunch of such concerts up and down the coast.
As the concerts became more established, Hugo and Winnie started teaching intensives (in IL, during the summer). Many of these musicians participate in these intensives and work with Hugo directly when he comes to us.
