July 27 — Architecture & Design Council Lecture: Philippe Malouin

SANTA BARBARA — Join us for MCASB’s inaugural Architecture & Design Council Lecture with Philippe Malouin! Malouin will present a dynamic overview of his design work and trajectory to date at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 27 at the Santa Barbara Museum of Contemporary Art, 653 Paseo Nuevo, Santa Barbara.

This will be followed by a conversation between him and Janelle Zara, art and design critic. This event is free and open to the public. A free shuttle will provide roundtrip transportation from MCASB to Belmond El Encanto.

Canadian Philippe Malouin holds a BFA in Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven. He has also studied at the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle in Paris and University of Montreal. He set up his studio in 2009 after working for English designer Tom Dixon. He is also the director of the architectural and interiors design practice, POST-OFFICE. His diverse portfolio includes tables, rugs, chairs, lights, art objects, and installations. Malouin’s client list includes: Marsotto Edizioni, Resident, OTHR, Hem, Ace Hotel, Matter Made, Established & Sons, Roll & Hill, 1882 Ltd., Kvadrat, Umbra Shift, Caesarstone, IZÉ, Swarovski, Bloomberg, Aesop, and Touch Digital. Malouin has won W Hotel’s ‘Designer of the Future’ Award, Wallpaper’s ‘Best Use of Material’ Award, and most recently Abitare and designboom’s 2017 ‘The Design Prize’ in the Artistic Realm. Malouin Lives and works in London, where he operates his design studio.
