Also, please spread the word that the Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum in San Luis Obispo is ready and equipped to record your veteran story at the Museum or we can come to you. Our program, the Central Coast Veterans History Project, where we record the stories of all veterans in partnership with the US Library of Congress, has been active since 2002.
We have recorded numerous Korean War Era Veteran stories to date, along with hundreds of stories from all eras, and we would like to add your story to a national archives managed by the US Library of Congress. The original recording stays in our local Museum archive, while one copy goes to the LOC and one copy of the DVD goes to the Veteran. To learn more or schedule your Veterans History interview, contact our museum at (805) 543-1763.
Our Museum’s mission is to HONOR AND REMEMBER OUR VETERANS. With your support, and the support of our members, sponsors and veterans, we are able to continue preserving the history, artifacts and stories of Central Coast Veterans, educating the public on their service and sacrifice, and creating a community for our veterans to feel honored and appreciated.
Volunteers are still needed to support this special event hosting and honoring our Korean War Veterans. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering either for setup, breakdown or to help serve lunch to our veterans, please email the museum at ccvmm.programs@gmail.com.
If you need to contact me directly, please call me at the museum on Tuesdays or Thursdays 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at (805) 543-1763.
Sincerely,
Bart Topham
