Donations and about 20 judges are needed for the annual Rio School District Science Fair for Migrant Education Students on Saturday, May 21.

“I am writing because we urgently need your help,” said Adolfo Murillo. “This year I will again be participating as a judge for the Rio School District’s Science Fair for Migrant Education Students, on Sat. May 21st. Last year’s Science Fair was a truly amazing experience, seeing our children presenting their science projects and showing their enthusiasm for science. This year the Science Fair has been expanded to include even more children, and we expect it to be a great success.  However, we desperately need your help, in two areas:

1)  We need your contribution (tax-deductible) to help purchase science-related prizes for the winners of the Science Fair.  We hope to reward as many participants as possible, and motivate them to continue in the sciences.  All contributions are greatly appreciated, in any amount.  You will receive a letter of acknowledgment along with the tax ID number.  Please specify “Migrant Education” on your check or it will go into the general fund.  Please write checks to:

Rio School District Migrant Ed., and send to:

Rio School District

Attn: Tammy Henschel

2500 Vineyard Ave.

Oxnard, CA 93036

2)  We also need approx. 20 more judges.  Please see attached information, and a photo of last year’s Science Fair.  You do not have to have a science or education background.

“I realize that this is not the best time to be asking for donations, and the time is very short, but we truly need your help.  Please forward this to your friends.  Please help us make a difference in our children’s lives.  By encouraging them to continue their interest in the sciences, we could be helping to pave the path for a future doctor, nurse, research scientist, teacher, engineer, or a future President! Mil gracias.”
