OXNARD — The approach to building an effective branding strategy has changed significantly over the past decade. John Silva, president and creative director at Ventura-based Dupris Group, will share his insights on creating a successful brand experience for today’s audience on Wednesday, January 25, at the Public Relations Society of America Gold Coast Chapter meeting.

The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. with networking, followed by the program presentation from 8:30-9:30 a.m. The event will be held at Cal Lutheran University/Oxnard Campus-The Palms,
2201 Outlet Center Drive, Suite 600, Oxnard.

“Branding is more than a company’s calling card. It is a meaningful symbol of their relationship to the human condition. Creating a successful branding campaign takes strategic introspection, a willingness to challenge assumptions and a big dose of bold creativity,” says Silva.

Silva will discuss how branding has evolved, how to determine the right branding approach, when and how to refresh a brand and the difference between sending a message and sparking a conversation.

Silva has worked with Dupris Group for over 20 years. He currently serves as a board member to SEEAG (Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture), and has previously served as advisory board member and adjunct professor to the Brooks Institute of Photography, as well as member trustee to the Ventura County Chamber of Commerce PAC. An alumnus of California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, Silva is the co-author of “Package Design Workbook: The Art & Science of Successful Packaging.”

The PRSA meeting is open to the public. Advance reservations are required. Admission is $10 for students with ID, $20 for PRSA members and $30 for non-members. A light breakfast is served. To register, visit www.prsagoldcoast.org.
