Jackson issues statement on Thomas Fire

VENTURA COUNTY — State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) released the following statement today on the Thomas Fire in Ventura County, now estimated at approximately 45,000 acres and 0% containment.

“I am devastated by the impact this fire has and will likely continue to have on our communities. I am grateful to the more than one thousand firefighters and first responders for their heroic efforts battling this blaze, and buoyed by the community spirit, as neighbors help neighbors in need. This fire remains out of control and structures are threatened. The safety of our community should be our first priority, and those in proximity to the fire should be prepared. I urge everyone to follow evacuation orders, and to keep close tabs on the development of the fire. I urge those who can to sign up for emergency alerts at http://www.readyventuracounty.org/vc-alert.
