Two acclaimed artists, Salomón Huerta and Jose Ramirez, have donated art pieces from their collection to the Youth in Solidarity Fundraiser for the displaced fire victims of Oxnard. The art pieces will be part of the silent and live auction which will take place on Nov. 15, at a fundraiser held from 6 p.m. to  midnight at the Knights of Columbus, Oxnard.

Huerta, an MFA from UCLA, gained critical acclaim and commercial attention for his minimalist portraits of the backs of people’s heads and color saturated depictions of domestic urban architecture. His artwork has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the U.S., Europe, and Latin America such as the Gagosian Gallery in London, England and Studio La Città in Verona, Italy.

In California, his work is represented in LACMA, Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, and the Fisher Gallery of the University of Southern California. The Worcester Art Museum and the Colby College Art Museum.

Ramirez is an artist, children’s book author and educator. His MFA is from UC Berkeley. His colorful artwork is displayed in galleries, universities and cultural centers in New York, San Franciso, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Japan and Mexico. The art pieces are valued at up to $2,000 with opening bids listed for each item. For the silent auction you must be present at the fundraiser.
