The County of Ventura Creates Business Assistance Grant Program
Nonprofits and Businesses Can Apply June 24th!
The County of Ventura has created a COVID-19 Business Assistance Grant Program to provide grants of $5,000 awarded to small businesses and nonprofit organizations located in Ventura County to alleviate impacts from COVID-19.
The grant program is designed to cover expenses such as payroll support, rent and lease payments, costs for personal protective equipment, purchases related to the operation of their businesses, and extraordinary business expenses for adhering to compliance protocols for reopening (e.g., cleaning services, signage, customer interface capabilities, additional security, etc.).
Businesses and Nonprofits can submit an application starting 9:00 am June 24 through July 8, 2020 at vcreopens.com.
Businesses and nonprofits must meet the following criteria to be considered eligible:
  1. The business or nonprofit organization maintains a business license in Ventura County. NOTE: If the applicant does not have a copy of their business license they should visit the city that they conduct business in and request a copy from the appropriate city department.
  2. The business or nonprofit organization was in business on, or before, March 17, 2020.
  3. In 2019, the business or nonprofit organization had total annual gross revenue between $25,000 and $2 million.
  4. For new businesses and nonprofit organizations established on or after January 1, 2020 but before March 18, 2020, total revenue between January 1, 2020 and July 8, 2020 must be between $25,000 and $2 million.
  5. The business or nonprofit has registered with www.vcreopens.com if eligible. If the business owner conducts business at home and has not been required to fill out a business attestation form, they do not need to do so.
  6. The nonprofit organization is exempt from tax under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) per an IRS determination letter.
