Feb. 17 – 18 — ‘Art Comes Alive’ at Channel Islands Maritime Museum

OXNARD — Come celebrate with the Channel Islands Maritime Museum (CIMM) when History Comes to life! from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 17 and 18.

Docents and friends of the museum dress up in costume and activate the spirit of various paintings, ship models, and time periods featured in the pieces on display in the galleries. The characters, brought to life, will share stories and facts about the pieces they represent, creating an exciting experience unlike any other in the hallways and galleries of the Channel Islands Maritime Museum.

The event is family friendly and will include children’s activities in the front garden and inside the Museum, dress-up photo booths (for grown-ups too!), and maritime art creation. Guests are encouraged to come in maritime theme costume, or as your favorite maritime character or artist! Admission to the museum is $10 for non-members, and $7 for members/Seniors/military and children age 12 and under.

The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is open M/Th-Sat 10-4pm, Sun 12-4pm, and Tues/Wed for group tours and private member events (please call ahead to make a reservation), closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Located in Oxnard. Channel Islands Harbor at 3900 Bluefin Circle. Explore galleries full of rare and beautiful maritime paintings dating back to the 1600’s, more than sixty world-class models of historic ships, rotating thematic fine arts exhibitions, and interactive exhibits that encourage visitors to expand their horizons about everything maritime.

Regular museum entry is $7 adults, $5 seniors, $3 children (ages 6-17), free for members and children under 6, and free on the third Thursday of the month.
