OXNARD — Channel Islands Maritime Museum (CIMM) houses the largest collection of model ships on the West Coast with more than 60 exquisitely-detailed ship models from all over the world and dating back hundreds of years. From Dec.1 through Dec. 31, the CIMM Ship Model Guild will display projects they have been working on over the past year. Come visit Saturdays and Sundays during the month of December from noon–2 p.m. and enjoy a ship in a bottle demonstration from resident model maker Bob Little. The museum will also be hosting its annual ship model sale, with hand-made models of all sizes available for purchase.
The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is located in Oxnard’s Channel Islands Harbor at 3900 Bluefin Circle. CIMM is open Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Sundays from noon– 4 p.m.; Tuesdays and Wednesdays are open for reserved group tours and private member events. Explore galleries full of rare and beautiful maritime paintings dating back to the 1600s, more than 60 world-class models of historic ships, rotating thematic fine arts exhibitions and interactive exhibits that encourage visitors to expand their horizons about everything maritime.
