Commentary — YES, Every Vote Counts — VOTE!

By Frank X. Moraga • Amigos805.com

Given the news reports out there that the many have not turned in their mail-in ballots, it’s time to remind them about the election of 2016.

YES, EVERY VOTE COUNTS!!!, whether you live in Miami or Oxnard, Detroit or Santa Barbara, Scranton or San Luis Obispo.

Nov. 3 is creeping up fast. If you have a ballot, fill them out ASAP and drop them off at OFFICIAL BALLOT BOXES. It’s too late to use the U.S. Post Office.

Otherwise, plan to take advantage of in-person early voting on Saturday, Oct. 31.

We are so close. VOTE!!!

It administers voter registration and outreach programs; maintains the master voter file, master office and incumbent file, and master street index; processes Vote By Mail ballot requests and voted ballots; performs the layout and proofing of all sample ballot, official ballot, and voter information materials; establishes precinct boundaries and polling place locations; recruits and trains precinct workers; maintains, tests and distributes voting equipment to all polling places; tabulates all voted ballots; and conducts the official election canvass.

Track Vote By Mail Ballot with BallotTrax

BallotTrax receives voters’ name, address and USPS mailing tracking identification number from the Secretary of State’s voter registration system, VoteCal, the county’s Vote By Mail mailing vendor, and from USPS as the mail moves through the steps in the mail stream

As if Fall isn’t busy enough, we also have a General Electionscheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3. All registered voters in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties (and everyone else in California) will be getting an official ballot in the mail for the Nov. 3, 2020 General Election.

Be sure to check if:

  • Are you registered to vote?
  • Have you checked your voter status?
  • Have you changed your registration?

Important dates:

  • Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020.
  • The deadline to register online to vote is Monday, Oct. 19, 2020.
  • The deadline for registering by mail to vote is (postmarked by) Monday, Oct. 19, 2020.
  • The deadline to register in person to vote is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020.
  • The early voting period runs from Monday, Oct, 5, 2020 to Monday, Nov. 2, 2020, but dates and hours may vary based on where you live.
  • You can also register and vote on Election Day.

Due to concerns with in-person voting during the Coronavirus Pandemic, potential intentional delays with the U.S. Postal Service and other ongoing voter disfranchisement efforts, ELECTION DAY has become ELECTION SEASON.

The time is now to get your VOTING PLAN in order.

The League of Women Voters — Ventura County has just released the following information in English and Spanish to help make sure you are prepared to vote. Please feel free to download and pass along this information to other community members and organizations.
