On February 21, our Center for Economic Research and Forecasting (CERF) held its annual 2023 Ventura County Forecasting event. With over 330 registered guests, this was the largest forecasting event in CERF’s history, and the Scherr Forum at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza was filled to the last seat. Next to Matthew Fienup’s forecast at the county, state, and national level, the audience was presented with keynoter Kimberley Strassel, member of the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board and author of the Potomac Watch column at the Wall Street Journal. MPPA Students Visit Sacramento Institute
Students from the MPPA program participated in the Sacramento Institute, led by Sabith Khan (Director, MPPA Program) and Adjunct Professor Chris Beck. This class provides a 360 perspective of policy development processes and implementation challenges and exposes students to the inner working of Sacramento. This is done through planned visits from lobbyists, elected officials, and media personnel. The MPPA program collaborated with the Ventura County Leadership Academy (VCLA) this year.  Students got to hear & interact with Assembly member Jacqui Irwin, and Senator Monique Limon, among others.

2023 CARES DAY

This Cares Day, consider donating to the School of Management. This year, we seek your help in supporting initiatives that benefit our students in four ways:
  • The People(s) of Color Graduate Scholarship: The School of Management is committed to creating a graduate student community that’s reflective of our population and that supports our university’s goals of advocating for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice.
  • A Student Competition Fund:  In any given year, our students participate in a variety of regional, national, and international student competitions, such as our own PRiME (Principles for Responsible Management Education), the CFA Challenge, or others.
  • The new School of Management Building: While our original plans for a new facility have somewhat slowed due to the pandemic, we are still working on our vision for a new home for our students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
  • Greatest Need: This area supports our efforts to serve students in general ways by supporting operations, goods, and services.
Visit the School of Management website, select the initiative you are most passionate about, and support us with an early donation today.

Spread the word by contacting fellow alumni and by following us on social media and – especially on April 12 – “Like” and repost our messages and inspire your peers to support us!
