150th Anniversary Kick-off Celebration

The General Services Agency will accept the donation of two bronze veteran memorial statues for installation at the Ventura County Veterans Memorial. Following a vote at the April 25th Board meeting, the Board of Supervisors authorized the General Services Agency to work in partnership with the Vietnam Veterans of Ventura County and other veterans’ organizations to install the statues.
The two statues slated to be installed will honor the loss and sacrifice made by families and members of the military. The “Gold Star” statue will be a life size rendition of a mother/wife kneeling holding her son’s/husband’s folded casket flag. The “Remembering” statue will be a life size rendition of a kneeling soldier reaching out and remembering his fallen brethren.

The County of Ventura and Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans, are proud to announce the successful completion of a parking lot project aimed at curbing illegal drag racing, donuts, and other unlawful activities that pose a risk to public safety.
Recognizing the need to address the escalating concerns regarding illegal street racing and related activities, District Attorney Erik Nasarenko and Ventura County Supervisor Matt LaVere initiated a comprehensive approach to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors alike. This project, carried out in coordination with Caltrans District 7 and the County Planning Division, has resulted in the installation of strategically placed speed bumps and 155 cement parking barriers, known as wheel stops, in the Punta Gorda parking lot near Mussel Shoals. The lot, located on the northbound side of Highway 101 north of the Seacliff exit, is known for its high incidence of illegal racing and associated behavior.
AGENCY SPOTLIGHT – CHANNEL ISLANDS HARBOR
The Channel Islands Harbor is located between Port Hueneme and Ventura. It was built as a recreational harbor in the 1960s and 1970s on 310 acres of land and water, with approximately 2,150 boat slips, as well as marina facilities, restaurants, sportfishing facilities, chandleries and shops.
The Harbor is owned and operated by the County of Ventura. The majority of the Harbor is operated by businesses that have been granted long-term ground leases by the Board of Supervisors.
The Harbor, in partnership with the Channel Island Maritime Museum, hosted a community painting event to create a special mural that will be on display at the Harbor throughout the summer. The art concept was designed by Elisa Torres and the team with the Oxnard Performing Arts Center Corporation facilitated the event.

La Agencia de Servicios Generales aceptará la donación de dos estatuas de bronce en memoria de los veteranos para su instalación en el Monumento a los Veteranos del Condado de Ventura. Luego de una votación en la reunión de la Junta del 25 de abril, la Junta de Supervisores autorizó a la Agencia de Servicios Generales a trabajar en asociación con los Veteranos de Vietnam del Condado de Ventura y otras organizaciones de veteranos para instalar las estatuas.
Las dos estatuas que se instalarán honrarán la pérdida y el sacrificio realizado por familias y miembros de las fuerzas armadas. La estatua de la “Estrella Dorada” será una representación de tamaño natural de una madre/esposa arrodillada sosteniendo la bandera del ataúd doblado de su hijo/esposo. La estatua “Recordando” será una representación de tamaño natural de un soldado arrodillado que se acerca y recuerda a sus hermanos caídos.

El Condado de Ventura y la Oficina del Fiscal de Distrito del Condado de Ventura, en colaboración con la Patrulla de Carreteras de California y Caltrans, se enorgullecen en anunciar la finalización exitosa de un proyecto de estacionamiento destinado a impedir las carreras callejeras y otras actividades ilegales que presentan un riesgo para la seguridad pública.

EN EL FOCO – EL PUERTO DE CHANNEL ISLANDS
