We begin the 2012 season casting for La zapatera prodigiosa / The Shoemaker’s Prodigious Wife!

Teatro de las Américas announces auditions for the play La zapatera prodigiosa/ The Prodigious Shoemaker’s Wife, by Federico García Lorca, Teatro reported in a media release. The play is directed by Patricia Casiano. It will be staged from April 27 to May 12. The play is presented in Spanish.
The play tells the story of the volatile relationship between a married couple, the husband is much older than his eighteen-year-old wife. The story follows the wife’s struggle against her husband, neighbors, suitors, and a “boy”.
Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 17, 19, 24 and 26 at Oxnard College, 4000 So. Rose Ave., Oxnard at LA-20 STUDIO.
Characters include the shoemaker’s wife, a young woman about 18 years of age; the shoemaker, a 53-year-0ld man;the mayor, a super macho and rude man; a boy of any age; various female neighbors of various ages and many other characters.
