Things to consider more seriously in the midst of the Omicron surge
- Get vaccinated and boosted.
- Please stay home when you are ill to limit exposing others in the community.
- Consider temporarily pausing on attending unnecessary indoor events until the Omicron surge slows down.
- Wear a mask. They are required indoors for all in the State of California.

Need a ride to get a COVID vaccine?
Free Rides to COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments are available through Gold Coast Transit District’s GO ACCESS program. Must schedule a ride one day in advance by calling 805-485-2319.
The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging provides transportation services for older adults ages 60+ who have a scheduled appointment for testing or vaccine. Call 805-477-7300 to schedule a ride.

Focus on vulnerable community members
Beginning Friday, Community Based Organizations focused on health equity will help to distribute at home rapid test kits to vulnerable populations in need.
State site expansion
The Ventura County Public Health Department has been working closely with the California Department of Public Health to expand testing in our County. The State has announced expanded hours to increase capacity at sites throughout Ventura County. Currently, the State has 14 PCR COVID-19 testing sites in Ventura County. 6 sites have expanded and 4 sites will be expanding. Confirmation is also pending on 7 additional State sites. Community members who are in need of a test because they are symptomatic or have been exposed are asked to make an appointment in advance of visiting the sites at

Other options for testing
- Your doctor or health care provider.
- Private businesses like Covid Clinic and Curative.

- At-home collection kits and tests are available by prescription or over the counter in a pharmacy or retail store (in-store and online). Visit the CDC self-testing website to learn more.
What should I do if I test positive or if I have been exposed?

Since Monday, there have been 1,818 new COVID-19 cases reported and 14, 767 new tests completed. There are 191 people hospitalized and 25 in the ICU. There have been 2 additional deaths of a 58 year old female and a
63 year old male. Our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the community members who passed away. The
R-effective for Ventura County is 1.43 which indicates that the speed of COVID is likely increasing rapidly.
78.8% of community members (ages 5+) have received one or more COVID vaccine doses.
72.1% of eligible community members have been fully vaccinated.
77.7% of community members 12+ have been fully vaccinated.
