ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COLLABORATIVE NOW PROVIDING WORKPLACE ENGLISH LANGUAGE LITERACY TRAINING FOR WORKERS
CAMARILLO —The Economic Development Collaborative (EDC) is now enrolling employees in workplace English language training at NO-COST, thanks to a one-time grant from the Employment Training Panel. This opportunity is specifically designed to serve workers who are immigrants and refugees or non-English speakers within the agriculture and manufacturing sectors.
To provide accessible career-aligned English upskilling courses, EDC is partnering with EnGen, a registered BCorp delivering English language training for workers at many of America’s largest corporations. Training benefits include:
- 130+ courses and 24/7 access to the mobile-friendly EnGen platform and small group virtual instruction;
- Employ-specific institutional needs assessment to align program content with the job responsibilities and literacy goals of learners;
- Learner engagement initiatives to ensure learner motivation and participation; and
- Customized implementation support for all program managers, administrators, stakeholders and learners with ongoing training, support and professional development.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Employment Training Panel for this unique opportunity to serve workers who rarely have the chance to benefit from upskilling opportunities like this. With winter arriving, the timing is perfect for us to begin signing up workers right now so they can begin receiving training in January,” states EDC’s Workforce and Economic Strategies Director Jaime Fall.
Unlike other training programs, workers do not need Social Security Numbers and are only required to make the minimum wage of $15.50 per hour to qualify for training. Employers in agriculture and manufacturing are invited to enroll in this incredible opportunity to enhance their employees’ English language proficiency, empowering them to excel both professionally and personally.
