This morning, Congresswoman Julia Brownley presented the County of Ventura’s Harbor Director Michael Tripp with a check for $15 million for the bi-annual maintenance dredging of the Channel Islands Harbor. This critical funding will meet the dredging needs at the harbor, which is essential to keeping the harbor open for industries that drive our local economy, including fisheries and tourism. These funds will also help to replenish local beaches and address coastal erosion at the Naval Base.

COVID-19 Update
Since Monday, April 18th, 424 new COVID-19 cases have been reported and 20,259 new tests completed. There are 16 people hospitalized and 3 in the ICU.
There have been 5 new deaths of a 55 year old male, 61 year old female, 74 year old female, 80 year old female, and an 87 year old male. We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the community members who have passed away.
The R-effective for Ventura County is 1.21, which means that the spread of COVID is likely increasing.
83.8% of eligible community members (ages 5+) have received a 1st COVID vaccine dose
76.9% of eligible community members (ages 5+) have been fully vaccinated
As of next week, the County COVID-19 e-news updates will be sent on Tuesdays. The California Department of Public Health updates data on Tuesdays and Fridays.

There are several COVID-19 treatment options available that can help you recover and keep you out of the hospital. There are two ways to get outpatient COVID-19 treatments:
  1. Talk to your health care provider to learn if you qualify for a COVID-19 treatment that requires a prescription or referral.
  2. Find Test to Treat locations that offer COVID-19 testing and prescriptions for oral antiviral pills at one location.

Esta mañana, la congresista Julia Brownley entregó al director del Departamento de Puerto del Condado de Ventura, Michael Tripp, un cheque por $15 millones para el dragado de mantenimiento bianual del puerto de Channel Islands. Este financiamiento crítico cubrirá las necesidades de dragado en el puerto, que es esencial para mantener el puerto abierto para las industrias que hacen que prospere nuestra economía local, incluidas la pesca y el turismo. Actualización sobre el COVID-19
Desde el lunes 18 de abril, ha habido 424 casos adicionales y se han evaluado 20,259 pruebas. Hay 16 personas hospitalizadas y 3 en la UCI.
Ha habido 5 muertes adicionales de un hombre de 55 años, mujer de 61 años, mujer de 74 años, mujer de 80 años y un hombre de 87 años. Compartimos nuestro sentido pésame a los seres queridos de las personas que han fallecido.
