The garden party to rival all garden parties is right around the rosebush. The Eighth Annual Rebozo Festival will take place on Sunday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Camarillo. If you haven’t attended one of these parties before you must make plans to attend this beloved afternoon event.
In 2005, a small group of volunteers gathered to organize the Rebozo Festival, a benefit established to raise funds for Ventura County nonprofit charitable organizations that focuses on the cultural, social and educational needs of the community. The amount of attendees outgrew the resources of a very large back yard and moved to another beautiful location: in the luxuriant grounds of the historic Adolfo Camarillo Ranch.
This unique event promotes the rich heritage of our area by highlighting the colorful rebozo (shawl) as its theme. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and supporters, the Rebozo Festival has raised thousands of dollars for qualified nonprofit organizations in Ventura County.
Past recipients include Oxnard Union High School District Mariachi Music Program, Oxnard College Women’s Re-Entry Program, United Way Farm Worker Freeze Fund, Inlakech Cultural Arts Center, Parents of Murdered Children Inc., Education and Employment Resources Development Group and CAUSE Centro Mujer.
Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Heart 2 Heart Program. This nonprofit organization provides direct, specific support for foster children and foster families in our county by providing new and used clothing, shoes, backpacks, bedding, infant and toddler supplies and toys to foster families in Ventura County through a central location in the City of Ventura.
The Rebozo Festival features a delicious Mexican brunch served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a beautiful Rebozo fashion show, musical entertainment from Jarocho Herrera and Mariachi Aguilas de Mexico, as well as live and silent auctions with unique gifts, services and culinary delights. Ya se acerca la mejor fiesta de jardín de la región. La edición anual número ocho del Festival del Rebozo se llevará a cabo el domingo 20 de mayo de las 11 a.m. a las 3 p.m. en Camarillo. Si usted no ha ido antes a una de estas fiestas debe hacer planes para asistir a este cotizado evento vespertino.
En 2005 un pequeño grupo de voluntarios se reunió para organizar el Festival del Rebozo, un evento creado para recaudar fondos para organizaciones no lucrativas del
Condado de Ventura que se enfocan en satisfacer las necesidades culturales, sociales y educativas de la comunidad. El número de asistentes superó los recursos de un amplio patio trasero y se mudó a otro lugar hermoso: los jardines exuberantes del histórico Rancho Adolfo Camarillo.
Este evento único promueve el rico legado de nuestra región, destacando al colorido rebozo como su tema central. Gracias a la generosidad de patrocinadores y colaboradores, el Festival del Rebozo ha recaudado miles de dólares para organizaciones no lucrativas del Condado de Ventura.
Entre los ganadores previos resaltan el Programa de Música de Mariachi del Distrito de Escuelas Preparatorias Unión de Oxnard, el Programa de Re-Ingreso de Mujeres del Colegio de Oxnard, el Fondo de Campesinos Afectados por las Heladas de United Way, el Centro Cultural de Artes Inlakech, los Padres de Niños Asesinados, el Grupo para el Desarrollo de Recursos Educativos y Laborales, y el Centro Mujer de CAUSE.
Los fondos que se recauden este año beneficiarán al programa Heart 2 Heart, algo así como “de corazón a corazón”. Esta organización sin fines de lucro ofrece apoyo directo y específico a niños adoptados y familias adoptivas de nuestro condado, proporcionando ropa, zapatos, mochilas, ropa de cama y artículos de bebé para niños pequeños y juguetes—artículos nuevos y usados que se distribuyen en una localidad céntrica en la ciudad de Ventura.
