OXNARD — On Friday, August 4th, the Mixteco/Indígena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) will hold its twelfth annual Night in Oaxaca. Throughout the years, Night in Oaxaca has become the largest and most sought-after fundraiser that helps MICOP continue our mission of supporting, organizing, and empowering the indigenous migrant community on California’s Central Coast.
Your attendance and participation during Night in Oaxaca enable us to provide vital resources to our community, including crucial services such as case management, system navigation, community organizing, and policy advocacy. Together, we can ensure our community’s voice is heard loud and clear. Let’s celebrate the vibrant indigenous culture and help us advance our important work.
This year’s theme is inspired by the profound Mayan concept of “Tu Eres Mi Otro Yo,” meaning “You Are My Other Me.” These words hold deep significance for us, and we are eager to share their meaning with our valued supporters throughout the unforgettable Night in Oaxaca experience. The evening welcomes a diverse crowd of supporters, local and state elected officials, and indigenous community leaders across Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties who will enjoy an evening filled with colorful cultural dances, authentic, traditional Oaxacan cuisine, and the opportunity to peruse and support select vendors in our indigenous artisanal market. It promises to be an enchanting and memorable occasion, and is an evening you don’t want to miss!
We invite local agencies, county leaders, and supporters to join us at the Olivas Adobe Historical Park in Ventura, CA. Embrace the vibrant atmosphere of this lively cultural event and become part of the social change we strive for.
To reserve tickets or inquire about sponsorship opportunities, kindly contact MICOP’s Events and Individual Giving Coordinator Omar Reyes at omar.reyes@mixteco.org. Our tickets are available now at the affordable price of $80 per ticket or $150 for two, and we offer various sponsorship levels.
August 4th is a night to celebrate the spirit of unity, diversity, and empowerment of the indigenous migrant community in California’s Central Coast. Let us come together as one and make a lasting impact during Night in Oaxaca!
