Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin’s District Director, Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios to Run for Ventura County Community College Trustee, Area 1

VENTURA – State Assembly District 44 Director, Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios is formally announcing her candidacy for the Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD), Area 1 seat.

“Amazing educators guided and mentored me when I attended community college enabling me to ultimately earn a Master’s Degree,” said Sanchez-Palacios. “All students deserve the same opportunity and support. Thanks to the long history of innovation and evolution at Moorpark, Oxnard, and Ventura Colleges, community colleges play a critical role in Ventura County’s economic sustainability. For many they serve as an affordable gateway to higher education. I commit to providing greater educational access to support the students and faculty of Ventura County’s community colleges.”

“Jeannette will make an excellent trustee,” said current Area 1 (VCCCD) trustee, Stephen Blum. “She has valuable experience and educational policy knowledge to face and overcome the challenges it takes to build a better community through education.”

Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios resides in the city of Ventura with her husband, of more than 20 years, where they are raising 2 children. Jeannette holds degrees in Public Administration, Women’s Studies, and Political Science from the California State University – Northridge (CSUN), University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA), and Santa Monica Community College (SMC). Jeannette has worked as a Political and Communications director for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721 and as District Director for Assemblymember Das Williams (AD-37). Jeannette also volunteers for several Ventura County organizations that advocate for Immigration issues, Women and Children’s issues, Homelessness, and Veterans issues. Jeannette currently works as District Director for Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (AD-44).

Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios is a candidate for the Ventura County Community College District, Trustee, Area 1, comprised of San Buenaventura, Montalvo, Saticoy, Ojai Valley, City of Ojai, Upper Ojai Valley, Riverpark, Northwest Oxnard, North Coast and West Lockwood Valley.
