SANTA BARBARA — ¡Viva el Arte de Santa Bárbara! (Viva) is back with its next free community event. Relive the vintage sounds of the Golden Era of Mexican Cinema with three free performances by the musical trio, Tres Souls. Viva is a collaboration between UCSB Arts & Lectures, The Marjorie Luke Theatre, the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center, and the Isla Vista School Parent Teacher Association, dedicated to sharing the rich cultural heritage of Latin America to Santa Barbara County students and community members.

The Los Angeles-based modern trio romántico Tres Souls are known for reviving the nostalgic boleros of the 1940s-1960s, stylized during the Golden Era of Mexican cinema. With expert musicianship and expert vocals, Rocio Mendoza, Roberto Carlos, and Jesus Martinez are “capturing the hearts of Angelenos, one ballad at a time” (ABC7).
Each member of Tres Souls is an accomplished musician, and each inherited the knowledge and importance of heritage music through their family and generations before them. In their own way, Tres Souls are following in the footsteps of other trio romanticos, like Eydie Gorme Y Los Panchos, Los Tres Reyes and Los Tres Ases, while interspersing musical influences that can be heard echoing throughout the diaspora of Los Angeles. They released their first album, Boleros Made in LA, in 2019, and have performed at many places including the opening act for Omara Portuondo, Hawaii’s 2nd Annual Barrio Café’s Sabor Fest, Walt Disney Studios for the premiere of the movie ‘Coco,’ the Music Center 59th Annual Holiday Celebration, and most recently a sold out show at The Ford theater in Hollywood.

Revive los sonidos clásicos de la Época de Oro del cine mexicano con tres funciones gratuitas del trío musical Tres Souls. Viva es una colaboración entre UCSB Arts & Lectures, The Marjorie Luke Theatre, Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center y la Asociación de padres y maestros de la escuela Isla Vista, dedicada a compartir la rica herencia cultural de América Latina con los estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad del condado de Santa Bárbara.

El trío romántico de Los Ángeles, Tres Souls, es conocido por revivir los boleros nostálgicos de las décadas de 1940 y 1960, estilizados durante la Época de Oro del cine mexicano. Con maestría musical y voces expertas, Rocío Mendoza, Roberto Carlos y Jesús Martínez están “capturando los corazones de los angelinos, una balada a la vez” (ABC7).
Cada miembro de Tres Souls es un músico aclamado, y cada uno heredó el conocimiento y la importancia de la herencia musical a través de su familia y generaciones anteriores. A su manera, Tres Souls sigue los pasos de otros tríos románticos, como Eydie Gorme Y Los Panchos, Los Tres Reyes y Los Tres Ases, mientras intercalan influencias musicales que se pueden escuchar resonando en toda la diáspora de Los Ángeles.
