Nov. 5 — Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care hosts free film screening to community about end of life care; The Nurse with the Purple Hair

SANTA BARBARAVisiting Nurse & Hospice Care is hosting a free educational event, and special screening of the documentary, The Nurse with the Purple Hair. The film will be followed by a discussion with acclaimed Director Sean Cunningham and the film’s featured hospice nurse, Michelle Lasota. This event is free and open to the community. The screening is being held at The New Vic Theatre, 33 W Victoria St., Santa Barbara on November 5, from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM.

The Nurse with the Purple Hair is a warm and inspiring documentary about end-of-life care and honors hospice workers and how they help families learn to accept death with compassion, wisdom, and grace.

Cunningham follows Nurse Lasota (she does have Purple Hair) as she navigates the difficult world of hospice care with a sense of humor and a passionate drive to help others. Her goal for her patients is to make every day the best possible day it can be.

Following the film, a panel will gather to discuss the film and end of life care. Moderated by VNHC President & CEO Lynda Tanner; panelists include: Director of the film Sean Cunningham, hospice nurse Michelle Lasota, VNHC Medical Director Michael Bordofsky, and VNHC Hospice Nurse Miki McGibbons.
