WVCBA Presents Oxnard’s State of the City Address

OXNARD — The West Ventura County Business Alliance is proud to present Oxnard Mayor John C. Zaragoza’s 2024 State of the City address on Friday, June 14. He will discuss the city’s financial stability and balanced budget, continued progress made on the City Council’s priorities, and economic development.

“Despite the economic challenges that we and many other cities are facing, Oxnard continues to make slow and steady progress. I’m excited to provide updates on Council priorities such as paving our roads, improving our service delivery, and the positive impacts that our hard work is bringing to our business community, ” said Mayor Zaragoza.

WVCBA announces winners of the 2023 Camarillo Top 10 Community Awards

The West Ventura County Business Alliance is pleased to announce the recipients of the 56th Annual Camarillo Top 10 Community Awards, the city’s premier recognition event.

The awards recognize businesses, organizations and individuals that are dedicated to enhancing Camarillo’s positive business and community environment. Nominations are submitted by the public to the WVCBA and winners are chosen by a selection committee.

The 2023 honorees are:

WVCBA to Publish 2023 Dallas Cowboys Training Camp Souvenir Program

The Dallas Cowboys are set to return to Oxnard’s River Ridge Fields during their 2023 Training Camp, and the West Ventura County Business Alliance will once again publish the official souvenir program.

Advertising sales are open for businesses hoping to reach thousands of local, regional and out-of- state fans that flock to training camp every year. The full-color souvenir program includes the team roster, training camp schedule, regular season schedule, and autograph pages.

April 28 — West Ventura County Business Alliance to present address by CSU Channel Islands President Richard Yao

The West Ventura County Business Alliance, the chamber of commerce serving Camarillo and Oxnard, will host the State of the University address by President Richard Yao, Ph.D., of California State University Channel Islands on Friday, April 28.

Each year the president addresses the business community at the CSUCI Connection Luncheon with updates from the University, one of the major economic engines in the region. Yao will discuss highlights from the University’s 20th Anniversary last year as well as major plans, projects and initiatives for the next decade.

June 16 — WVCBA Presents Oxnard’s State of the City Address

The West Ventura County Business Alliance is proud to present Oxnard Mayor John C. Zaragoza’s 2023 State of the City address on Friday, June 16. He will discuss the city’s overall stability and socio-economic impacts on local government, as well as provide updates about the City Council’s priorities, citywide restorations, and economic development.

“We are continuing restorations to Oxnard’s streets and alleys, and maintaining our public safety services,” said Mayor Zaragoza. “Despite the global impacts of supply chain disruptions, inflation and labor shortages, our City Council remains committed to investing in the services and projects that are important to our community. It may not be happening as fast as we’d like, but we are maintaining steady progress.”

WVCBA to Welcome New President of CSU Channel Islands on April 29

The West Ventura County Business Alliance, the chamber of commerce serving Camarillo and Oxnard, will host the State of the University address by President Richard Yao, Ph.D., of California State University Channel Islands on Friday, April 29.

Each year the president addresses the business community. Yao was appointed to serve as the fourth president of CSUCI in January 2022 after serving as interim president since January 2021.

West Ventura County Business Alliance announces annual Award of Excellence recipients

The West Ventura County Business Alliance, the chamber of commerce serving Camarillo and Oxnard, is pleased to announce the annual Chairperson’s Award of Excellence recipients.

Honorees will be celebrated at the WVCBA’s Annual Meeting and Installation of Directors on Friday, March 4, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Courtyard By Marriott in Oxnard. Tickets to the luncheon are $50 for members and $65 for non-members. Registration is available online at wvcba.org or by calling (805) 738-9100.

These six, dedicated individuals were selected by outgoing Chair of the Board Tracy Perez, Market Manager – ManpowerGroup, and represent leaders who made significant contributions to the success of the WVCBA.

April 7 — West Ventura County Business Alliance to host Spring Business Expo

The West Ventura County Business Alliance, the chamber of commerce serving Camarillo and Oxnard, is hosting a Spring Business Expo & Mixer on Thursday, April 7, 2022.

The semi-annual event is designed to bring together businesses and potential new customers in a fun, casual networking environment. The WVCBA Spring Business Expo & Mixer is free to the public.

Local business owners and representatives will showcase their products, explain their services, and make valuable in-person connections for strategic partnerships or new customers.

April 14 — West Ventura County Business Alliance to present update on county airports

The West Ventura County Business Alliance, the chamber of commerce serving Camarillo and Oxnard, is pleased to welcome Keith Freitas, Director of Airports for Ventura County, as the keynote speaker for the Business & Economic Outlook on Thursday, April 14.

Freitas is expected to discuss their economic impacts of the county-operated airports and share the latest updates. The County of Ventura Department of Airports owns and manages Camarillo Airport and Oxnard Airport.

Freitas accepted his current position in Ventura County in November 2021. He previously worked at Long Beach Municipal Airport, Mineta San Jose International Airport, and Contra Costa County, where he was the Director of Airports for 19 years.

June 17 — WVCBA to host Oxnard Mayor Zaragoza’s State of the City Address

The West Ventura County Business Alliance will host Oxnard Mayor John C. Zaragoza’s annual State of the City address on Friday, June 17. He will reflect on accomplishments from 2021, and share highlights and initiatives for 2022.

“As you can see throughout Oxnard, we are in the process of restoring many of our streets and alleys and landscape maintenance that was deferred for many years,” said Mayor Zaragoza. “I’m excited to share with the community the progress we have made with one full year of Measure E funding and our City Council’s vision to continue reinvesting in our community.

The State of the City is being held at the Courtyard by Marriott Oxnard located at 600 E. Esplanade Drive. The luncheon is open to the public and begins at 11:30 a.m.

Sept. 20 — West Ventura County Business Alliance to promote local business at Fall Expo

The West Ventura County Business Alliance, the chamber of commerce serving Camarillo and Oxnard, is hosting a Fall Business Expo & Mixer on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.

The semi-annual event is designed to bring together businesses and potential new customers in a fun, casual networking environment. The Fall Business Expo & Mixer is free to attend and open to the public.
