THOUSAND OAKS — Senior Concerns president and CEO Andrea Gallagher was recognized with a City of Thousand Oaks City Council Chambers Seat Dedication during the Dec. 9, 2025, City Council meeting. Outgoing Mayor David Newman presented the prestigious honor. 

Gallagher was honored with Seat N9 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Scherr Forum Theatre, which also serves as the Andrew P. Fox City Council Chamber.

The recognition highlights Gallagher’s years of service at Senior Concerns and her work supporting older adults and family caregivers throughout the Conejo Valley. Under her leadership, Senior Concerns has advanced key programs including Meals On Wheels, the Adult Day Program, Caregiver Support Center, Senior Advocates, and the organization’s 50th Anniversary Future Fund.

THOUSAND OAKS — Senior Concerns, a leading nonprofit serving older adults and family caregivers throughout western Los Angeles and eastern Ventura counties, held its 4th Annual “Par and Away” Golf Tournament presented by Logix Federal Credit Union on November 18 at Moorpark Country Club. 

More than 200 golfers, sponsors, and supporters participated to raise critical funds for programs that support seniors across the region.

The tournament featured breakfast, the Los Angeles Rams Cheerleaders, a putting contest, on-course games and activities, and exceptional food and drink vendors throughout the day. An awards dinner with former Los Angeles Dodgers catcher and two-time World Series Champion, and former manager of the Los Angeles Angels, Mike Scioscia, and auctioneer Zack Krone led the live auction.

THOUSAND OAKS — On Tuesday, May 6, Senior Concerns hosted 150 family caregivers at Caregiver Recognition Day at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks.

This at-capacity event, themed “Invigorating Your Caregiver Power,” offered a restorative and empowering experience for attendees, who are often the silent heroes behind the health and well-being of aging loved ones. Caregivers enjoyed a complimentary lunch, motivating presentations, and thoughtful gifts.

“So many family caregivers noted that they arrived feeling overwhelmed and fatigued,” said Martha Shapiro, director of programs at Senior Concerns. “At the end of the event, most attendees reported feeling inspired and appreciated. This event is our way of wrapping them with care and giving them tools and encouragement to keep going.”

volunteer for the 31st Annual Love Run, presented by Logix Federal Credit Union, which will take place on Sunday, June 1, in Westlake Village.

One of the largest 5K/10K events in the Conejo Valley, the Love Run, draws more than 2,000 participants and 500 spectators annually. Volunteers are essential to making the event a success, helping raise funds to provide nutritious meals to homebound seniors through Senior Concerns’ Meals On Wheels program.

“Volunteers are the heart and driving force behind the Love Run,” says Andrea Gallagher, president of Senior Concerns. “Event volunteers do more than just help on race day- they ensure thousands of meals reach homebound seniors throughout the year. That impact is priceless.”

The Southeast Ventura County YMCA and Senior Concerns are partnering to collect nonperishable grocery items to distribute to low-income seniors who are self-isolating because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Items will be collected through March 19 at the Yarrow Family YMCA in Westlake Village.

“We know many of our community’s seniors don’t want to go grocery shopping for fear of contracting COVID-19 and they don’t have family or friends who can do the shopping for them,” says Ronnie Stone, President and CEO of the Y.
