In a common method, one suspect distracts the victim while the other suspect intentionally bumps the victim and removes a wallet from a back pants pocket simultaneously. Keep wallets in a bag snug close to your body or in a front pants pocket to avoid this.

Police Department Launches “No Shave November” in Honor of Supporting Those with Cancer

SANTA PAULA — On Friday, November 1, 2024, the Santa Paula Police Department launched “No Shave November” to support local charities that assist with those battling cancer. Police officers are growing their facial hair to help “grow” cancer awareness. The Santa Paula Police Officers Association (SPPOA) is coordinating this campaign, receiving donations from all Police Department employees in order to participate. The fundraising campaign will finish at the end of the month. Employees will be allowed to grow their facial hair fully and neatly trimmed over the next few months.

Bilingual report — Santa Paula Police Department Receives $28,108 Grant to Fight Alcohol-Related Harm from California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control

SANTA PAULA — Santa Paula Police Department announces they have been awarded a $28,108 grant from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to reduce alcohol-related harm in their community.

The funds will be used to help prevent alcoholic beverage sales to minors and obviously intoxicated patrons, illegal solicitations of alcohol, and other criminal activities such as the sale and possession of illegal drugs. “This is important to Santa Paula in order to increase protection for youth and to address crime at problem locations,” said Chief of Police Don Aguilar.

The event is sponsored by the Santa Paula Police Officers Association and the Santa Paula Police & K9 Foundation. The event is free and residents from the City of Santa Paula are welcome to attend.

The Santa Paula Police Department has released its Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) statistics for year 2022. Overall, Part I reported crime in Santa Paula increased by 7.8%. There were 411 Part I Crimes in 2021 and 447 in 2022.

The UCR program, managed by the US Department of Justice, collects crime statistics from over 18,000 law enforcement agencies throughout the Country. The statistics are classified into eight (8) “Part One” crimes that fall under two broad categories: violent crime and property crime.
