Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation Announce 2022 Rodney Fernandez Leadership Fund Scholarship Recipients

The Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (Cabrillo EDC) recently selected their 2022 class of Rodney Fernandez Leadership Fund (RFLF) Scholars. For the 12th-consecutive year, outstanding area high school seniors and college students will be recognized for their academic achievements and pursuits with RFLF Scholarships to support their respective college and trade educations. Seven scholars were selected after displaying a commitment to their community, education and future.

“Cabrillo EDC has a long-standing history of providing community services and growth opportunities for the residents in their communities.” Said Brian Gilpatrick, Regional Manager of Union Bank.
“We are proud to support and be a part of The RFLF Scholarship Program and help support those who exhibit the same commitment and desire to learn, grow and contribute back to the community they live in.”

Cabrillo Economic Development Corp. Congratulates 7 Students Awarded with Rodney Fernandez Leadership Fund Scholarships

 The Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (Cabrillo EDC) recognized 7 graduating high school seniors and college students for their academic achievements and pursuits with Rodney Fernandez Leadership Fund (RFLF) Scholarships.  

2021 proved to be a challenging year for continuing college students and graduating high school seniors transitioning to college. A recent survey conducted by EdWeek Research Center showed “students from low-income families were more likely than those from higher-income households to suffer disruptions in their college plans or to have had family members infected with COVID-19″.  

Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation Announces Newest Board Member

Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (Cabrillo EDC), the largest developer of affordable homes in Ventura County, announced the appointment of Mayra Ramirez as the newest member of Cabrillo EDC’s Board of Directors. 

Originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, Mayra Ramirez is a Food Safety and Occupational Safety Coordinator for a local Agriculture company and is currently working on her Business Management Degree at Oxnard College.  

Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation Call for Artists to enter 40 Years of Home Mural Contest

Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (Cabrillo EDC)?is pleased to announce a call for artists to participate in its 40 Years of Home Mural contest. Founded in 1981, Cabrillo EDC’s early roots were in response to a farmworker community’s demand for secure housing. Rooted in community-building and ongoing support, their mission aims to provide comprehensive affordable housing services and community economic development activities to residents most lacking in opportunity.   

The purpose of the mural is to promote awareness about the importance of developing housing that positively impacts the community’s health, education, public safety, social services and economic development – And Cabrillo EDC’s contributions over the past 40 years.

Nov. 9 — Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (Cabrillo EDC) reports of Simi Valley Fair

The city of Simi Valley, the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Simi Valley Town Center is hosting a job fair for individuals to discover job opportunities that are available in the area. The job fair will be taking place onNovember 9, 2021 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Simi Valley Town Center. The cost to attend the job fair as a Simi Valley business or a job seeker is FREE.
