Arlington Financial Advisors Names Financial Professional to Guide Strategic Business Development

SANTA BARBARA — Arlington Financial Advisors has named an trust professional, Frank Tabar, to guide Strategic Business Development for the Santa Barbara-based firm.

Before joining Arlington in May, Tabar spent 12 years as a Senior vice president technology officer with the Farmers & Merchants Trust Company of Long Beach; the last seven of those years he was also a senior vice president trust manager with the Farmers and Merchants Trust Company, Santa Barbara Branch. He spent two years with Bank of the West as vice president and strategic project and trust operations manager, and 15 years at Santa Barbara Bank & Trust in a variety of roles including trust client management, trust operations and compliance.

Michael Yang at Arlington Financial Advisors obtains CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation

SANTA BARBARA — Michael Yang, formerly a paraplanner with Registered Investment Advisory firm Arlington Financial Advisors, has stepped into a new role as financial planner for the company after completing the rigorous requirements to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.

Yang, who joined Arlington Financial Advisors in February 2021, completed the demanding CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) Certification Professional Education Program after more than a year of study and passed the exam needed to earn the nationally recognized CFP® designation.

Arlington Financial Advisors in Santa Barbara surpasses $1 billion in client assets as company celebrates its 13th year

SANTA BARBARA — Local financial planning firm Arlington Financial Advisors marked a major milestone in the company’s growth in December: surpassing $1 billion in client assets.

The achievement comes as the company celebrates its 13th year in business serving the Santa Barbara community. Members of the Arlington Financial team, including partners Joe Weiland, Arthur Swalley, John Lorenz, Dianne Duva, Wells Hughes, and Cody Makela, celebrated the firm’s accomplishments with clients and friends recently at their historic offices on De la Guerra.

A Certified Financial Planner, Meier will be responsible for partnering with clients to ensure they are able to achieve their financial goals. Meier brings expertise in wealth accumulation, employee stock plans, insurance needs, optimizing debt structures, retirement planning, tax strategies and estate planning. She has worked in the financial services industry for over 7 years.

Arlington Financial Advisors’ Cody Makela receives Santa Barbara historic preservation award

Cody Makela, a partner and financial planner at Arlington Financial Advisors, has received the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation President’s Award for outstanding service.

It’s the first time the trust has presented this award, which seeks to recognize community members who have gone above and beyond to help preserve Santa Barbara’s history for future generations. Makela sits on the board of directors for the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation, where he serves as secretary.

Joe Weiland named board president at The Land Trust for Santa Barbara County

Joseph R. Weiland, managing partner of independent advisory firm Arlington Financial Advisors, has been appointed president of the Board of Trustees of The Land Trust for Santa Barbara County.

Weiland, a Certified Financial Planner and 30-year veteran of the financial services industry, joined The Land Trust’s board in 2018. As president he will lead more than a dozen fellow trustees from the community whose expertise ranges from agriculture, law and finance, to teaching, biology, and planning.
