Through July 24 — Young Writers Camp Announces Free Online Offerings for 4th-12th Graders
The Young Writers Camp – a nonprofit program of the South Coast Writing Project at UCSB – announced plans to continue camp services this Summer through online offerings.
In support of families facing COVID-related challenges, there is no cost to register for Young Writers Camp Online. For families able to make a donation, contributions made will go to compensate our teachers for their valuable time. If you are interested in donating, please contact us at scwripywc@gmail.com.

I hope all of you are fine. As you know in some areas in our county several families have been affected by COVID-19, some of these families have called Logrando to look for more information and support, for this reason, our program Logrando Bienestar will do a webinar with the participation of Dr. Alejandro Andrade from VCMC.
Dr. Andrade will provide information in Spanish about COVID19 and he will be answering questions that parents could have and I will be providing information about Logrando Bienestar and Mental Health services available.

Sept. 26 — The Collection partners with the Alzheimer’s Association to safely host annual walk Promise Garden
The Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Oxnard Walk to End Alzheimer’s event will look a little different this year. The event will be held on Sept. 26, 2020, but instead of a large gathering, the Alzheimer’s Association is encouraging participants to walk as individuals or in small groups on sidewalks, tracks and trails across their local communities. To add to the festivities, The Collection at RiverPark, which hosted the walk in previous years, is offering a view-only Promise Garden for participants.
Oct. 29 — 3rd Annual Housing Santa Barbara Day
According to a recent survey distributed by the Housing Authority City of Santa Barbara (HACSB), tenants and landlords are interested in becoming better educated on housing priorities and issues unique to our region. The hot-button topics includes tenant rights and responsibilities, resources for rent and mortgage relief during the COVID-19 economic downturn, rental mediation and workforce housing. To address these and other important housing matters, 2nd story will host the 3rd annual Housing Santa Barbara Day, which has been expanded to a
5-day virtual event with workshops on Saturday, October 24th, Monday the 26th, Tuesday the 27th, Wednesday the 28th and Thursday the 29th. All workshops are free with online registration; to sign up, click here.
Nov. 12 — Homes with Heart VC Invites all Businesses with Heart to Virtual Seminar to Support Youth in Care and their Families
Business with Heart VC is a four-year-old initiative, of Homes with Heart VC, responsible for helping many families. Originally set up as a program comprised of business members that helped resource families and youth with discounts from each of the local businesses, the program has grown to become an exciting way to provide internships and jobs for our older youth, that will be expanding to biological families and all other families in need. The core of the program is to also help businesses with additional foot traffic and recognition through website, social media exposure, and new signage.
