By identifying key issues, challenges, controversies and trends that have emerged or lingered during this challenging time, he spotlights the work that must be done to sustain the progress of the Freedom Struggle. Moving beyond mere critique, he will also provide concrete solutions, as well as hope and possibility for healing our national, local and university communities.

Dr. Hill shares a bold vision of the future, where social progress and the pursuit of equality depend on listening to each other while adopting a fearless attitude toward change.

Dr. Hill has received numerous awards from the National Association of Black Journalists, GLAAD, and the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. The lecture honors the memory of a second-year SBCC student and Mexican immigrant, Leonardo Dorantes. Celebrated as a motivated student and respected by peers and professors alike, Leonardo died in a race-related tragedy in November of 1990. The lecture series seeks to heighten awareness and understanding of racial and ethnic diversity in our society, politics and culture.

Free parking will be available on the SBCC West Campus after 5 p.m.
