Over two hundred classes will be offered as scheduled. Classes normally held at Wake Campus, Schott Campus and other community locations will be offered in this online live format for the remainder of Spring Semester and for the two Summer Sessions. Information and resources are continually updated at the Extended Learning homepage at <a href="http://www.sbcc.edu/ExtendedLearning" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sbcc.edu/ExtendedLearning</a></p> <p>Tuition-free programs now offered in live, synchronous videoconferencing format include Adult High School/GED, Bilingual GED, Bilingual Computer Skills, Career Skills Institute, Noncredit ESL, Health and Safety, Older Adults, Parenting, and the Vitality Program. The list of classes, instructor email addresses and support information are available from the homepage or at http://sbcc.edu/extendedlearning/sel_online_classes.php. Students already registered for classes are being emailed instructions to their student “pipeline” email addresses.</p> <p>Community members who have recently been laid off can attend courses to upskill and update their resumes through the Career Skill Institute classes. Students have been notified by email about cancelations and refund procedures, and can visit Fee-Based Life Enhancement for more information.</p> <p>“We are aiming to keep over six thousand adults of all ages engaged and connected as a community,” said Dr. Melissa V. Moreno, Vice President, School of Extended Learning. “Extended Learning staff, faculty and leadership are working tirelessly to enable thousands of adults to have access to their classes and maintain their strong community connections to one another during this challenging time. If career advancement or a new job search comes first this summer, Career Skills Institute is the convenient, tuition-free source for training in business, design, technology and career planning. Also for the first time in seven years are two Summer sections of Turning Points in Thought from Film on Friday evenings.</p> <p><strong>Tuition-Free Parenting</strong><br /> In addition to world-class life skills and career skills programs, SBCC School of Extended Learning offers one of the community’s most exciting and respected local Parenting programs, including 25 tuition-free Parenting Skills classes for parents and children from newborn to five years. Parenting courses involve music, play and nature; while the unique Parent-Child Workshop (PCW) experience is modeled after cooperative preschools, helping navigate parenting challenges of the 21st century.
