Through Dec. 10 — ‘Good Things Come in Small Packages’ at Studio Channel Islands’ Holiday Fair

CAMARILLO — Studio Channel Islands, located at 2222 E. Ventura Blvd., Camarillo, kicks off the holiday season with its annual holiday fair and festival, Dec. 1–3, beginning with the opening reception, 5–6 p.m. Dec. 1, for “Good Things Come in Small Packages,” an exhibit of artist-made small works from around the country, including ceramics, textile wearables and artwork, jewelry and a wide range of sculpture and painting. Artwork bought during the exhibition will be available to take away on the day of purchase. At 7 p.m., Studio Channel Islands artist-in-residence, Patrick Fisher, will host the Gamut showcase, with a line-up of live bands, an array of artists, food trucks and no-host bar. Also happening a few doors down from SCI is the City of Camarillo tree lighting, 5–8 p.m. with family fun and a visit from Santa. Admission to all events is free.

Studio Channel Islands will host its annual holiday fair, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Dec. 2, featuring distinctive artwork for gift-giving, created by SCI’s artists-in-residence and member artists, live music, interactive fun and crafts for all ages, food trucks and more. Come visit our 40 artists’ studios, and enjoy meeting the artists and watching them at work creating paintings, sculpture, ceramics, photographs, jewelry, weaving, fabric arts and more. Admission is free.

  • Dec. 3 – Irish Dance with the Greenway Irish Dancers, 2:30 p.m., admission $10
    Dec. 6 – Encaustic (hot wax) painting demo and wine, 5 to 7 p.m., free to attend
    Dec. 7 – Mixed Media Paint Night, 5 to 8 p.m., free to attend, donation for material costs to participate
    Dec. 8 – Jewelry Night, 5 to 7 p.m., free to attend
    Dec. 9 – Ventura County Blues Society Toy Drive Fundraiser, 4:45 p.m., admission $20
    Dec. 9– Open Studio tour, artist Fran Elson, Somis, free to attend
    Dec. 10 – Open Studio tour, artist Avery Falkner, Malibu, free to attend

 Studio Channel Islands is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the arts in our community, providing unique and diverse artistic encounters for all ages and extraordinary opportunities for artists.
